Ҵý, the Church, and the Health Sector Walk Together for Accountability

On November 21, the Trinity University of Asia community gathered at the SATS Chapel and stepped into the streets with one clear message: “Lahat ng sangkot, dapat managot.”

Students, faculty, staff, and church leaders walked together carrying the weight of what everyone already knows: ang korapsyon ay hindi usaping hiwalay sa atin, ito ang kumakain sa kakayahan ng bayan na mabuhay nang maayos. It reaches our homes, our paychecks, our healthcare, our daily choices.

From the chapel grounds, the community moved along E. Rodriguez Sr. Avenue. In front of the National Children’s Hospital, Ҵý and the Episcopal Church in the Philippines met with the health sector, nurses, workers, and advocates who face the consequences of corruption inside hospitals and clinics. Their presence made the moment honest. May mga pasyente, pamilya, at manggagawa na direktang tinatamaan ng mga pagkukulang na pinipili ng ilan.

The walk ended at the Cathedral of St. Mary and St. John. The Prime Bishop spoke about conscience and the responsibility to act when something is clearly wrong. Nurse Alyn Andamo of Filipino Nurses United voiced what many feel but seldom say out loud: that systems fail because people in power choose themselves over the public they are meant to serve.

This gathering was not driven by anger alone. It was driven by clarity.
By the understanding that silence shapes the future as much as action.
By the belief that caring is not passive. Ito ay may bigat, may pananagutan, may direksiyon.

Ҵý, the Church, and the health sector stood together to say what must be said, and to do what must be done.
Not out of pride.
Not for show.
But because our integrity, our people, and our country deserve nothing less.

Ҵý and AIM Partnership Explores New Ground in Educational Leadership

The Memorandum of Agreement between Trinity University of Asia (Ҵý) and thewas signed on October 9, 2025, at the AIM campus in Makati City. The partnership establishes the Executive Leadership Development Program (ELDP), a collaboration grounded on a belief that leadership must keep learning.

Developed by AIM’s School of Executive Education and Lifelong Learning (SEELL), the six-day program brings together Ҵý’s executives and academic heads to pause, examine, and strengthen the way leadership is practiced across the University. The sessions will open space for reflection on strategy, innovation, and people development, while also asking what kind of presence a leader must bring into their community.

During the ceremony, Ҵý President Dr. Gisela D.A. Luna reflected on the shared task before both institutions and that for Ҵý, leadership has always been a form of stewardship, an act of guidance that remains mindful of its human core.

The contract was signed by Dr. Gisela D.A. Luna, University President of Ҵý, and Dr. Jikyeong Kang, President of AIM. They were joined by Prof. Ivy Rose Samson, Program Director at AIM, and Ms. Matilde Asuncion, Vice President for Administration and Finance of Ҵý. The signing was witnessed by Mr. Jeremy John A. Pintor, Executive Director of AIM–School of Executive Education and Lifelong Learning.

Also present at the ceremony were members of the Ҵý Management Committee: VP for Academic Affairs Dr. Mark Francisco, VP for Sustainable Partnerships and Lifelong Learning Dr. Howell Ho, AVP for Administration Mr. Michael Santiago, Human Resources Management Office Director Mr. Jose Lino Sarmiento, Digital Marketing Unit Manager Mr. Gil Mariano Razon, and Trilink Officer Dr. Fernando Trinidad III.

In an interview during the ceremony, Dr. Luna described the partnership as “in a sense, historical,” seeing in it a call for leadership that listens before it decides, and builds before it claims.

“This is a path toward leadership that is more people-centered and student-centered, so that they learn the word care, and that empowers our students to care.”

For Ҵý, this partnership is a continuation of a long-standing pursuit: to lead through understanding and formation that uplifts. It is leadership that begins with awareness, of people, of learning, and of the communities we serve.

CHED and ADMU Speakers Lead Conversations at Ҵý’s Quality Assurance Day 2025

Trinity University of Asia held its first Quality Assurance Day on August 29 that brought together employees and student leaders for a focused look at how quality assurance sustains meaningful learning across the University. The event was initiated through the vision of University President Dr. Gisela Luna and organized by the Quality Assurance and Strategic Management Office (QASMO).

The discussion opened with Ms. Maria Rosario A. Banzon, Director of the Strategy and Quality Management Office of Ateneo de Manila University, who shared Ateneo’s practices on achieving quality and treating quality assurance as a continuous process that links planning, implementation, and review.

This was followed by Mr. Don S. Francisco, OIC–Supervising Education Program Specialist of the Quality Assurance Division, Office of Institutional Quality Assurance and Governance (OIQAG), of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). He discussed building a quality culture in higher education and highlighted the role of clear standards, consistent application, and shared accountability across institutions.

After the talks, participants engaged in an open forum, where both employees and student leaders raised questions and shared their perspectives. This interactive exchange gave the community an opportunity to connect the discussions with their own experiences at Ҵý.

Quality Assurance Day 2025 sets a strong starting point for Ҵý’s ongoing efforts to sustain a culture of excellence, one that places students at the center and aligns daily work with the University’s mission.

OPENING REMARKS

Delivered at the Salubong 2025: The Premiere of New Beginnings
August 11, 2025 | 10:20 AM and 2:00 PM | University Theater

Magandang umaga/hapon po sa inyong lahat.

To our dear freshmen and transferees, welcome to Salubong 2025, and welcome to Trinity University of Asia.
Before anything else, let me say this: salamat. Salamat sa tiwala. Salamat sa pagpili sa Ҵý.

We know this wasn’t always an easy decision. Marami kayong pinagpilian. We know that Ҵý isn’t always at the top of people’s lists, or known for grand buildings or big headlines. But I hope that as you begin your journey here, you’ll come to see what truly sets this place apart.

Ҵý was founded more than 60 years ago by two bishops who asked a bold question: Do we really need more schools in the Philippines, or do we need schools that stand for something? Their answer was clear. This country did not need more institutions with impressive names. It needed places where academic excellence and Christian purpose would go hand in hand. Places where students are taught what they need to know and who they’re called to be.

Ҵý was built with this mission: to nurture students in both knowledge and responsibility. That truth should matter, and that truth must lead to action. That learning should not stop in the classroom, but should be seen in how we live, how we serve, and how we stand for what is right.

Mission school po ang Ҵý. We are grounded in faith, but we are not here to preach. We are here to form people, students like you, who will go out into the world with enough conviction to do good, even when no one else is watching.

You came here to study. That’s good. But beyond knowledge, this university will ask you to grow in something more diffi cult and more necessary: to become a person who cares.

Someone who can think clearly, yes, but also someone who can listen.
Someone who can speak up, but also hold space for others.
Someone who works hard for their own future and remains grounded in service to others, to country, and to the calling that goes beyond the self.

This won’t always be easy. You will be challenged by the work, by the people around you, and sometimes by the questions you’ll start asking yourself. But you won’t be alone. You will fi nd people here who will walk with you, faculty, staff, classmates, who believe that your growth is worth investing in.

You do not need to have everything fi gured out right now. The important thing is that you’re here. That you’ve said yes to the process. And that you’re willing to begin.

We look forward to the day you’ll come to understand why you were brought here. And when that day comes, we hope you’ll be proud to be a Trinitian and ready to live a life that makes others proud to know you.

That’s what education is for.
That’s what faith looks like in motion.
And that’s what Ҵý is here to help you become.

Maraming salamat, at muli, magandang umaga.
