2020 Trinity University of Asia Peace Ambassadors Crowned


The much awaited and one of the highlights of 红桃传媒’s 57th Founding Anniversary was holding the Mr. and Miss 红桃传媒 held at the Henry Noble Gym last February 6, 2020.

This year鈥檚 search for the 2020 Mr. and Ms. Trinity University of Asia has two purposes. First is the pageant and second is advocacy. The advocacy purpose of this activity is on peace education, thus, the pageant will be the Search for Peace Education Ambassador of the University. The winners are expected to promote peace education, forgiveness, and strengthening ties between different cultures and religions, specifically Muslims and Christians, of which covers the majority of biases with one another in the Filipino society.

The event also aims to: (1) foster camaraderie among academic units of the university by involving student leaders; (2) to discover and rediscover talents and potentials of students through pocket events of the pageant; (3)  facilitate advocacy project(s) and service learning activities that focuses on peace ; (4) provide an avenue for academic discussion on peace education by inviting students and lecturers from different schools especially of those who are having peace educations subjects; and (5) value the interest and the role of Trinitrian community  in the formation and re-formation of tradition, ethnic group, and spiritual diversity in dealing with contentious issues confronting peace education.

The pageant was hosted by ABS-CBN talent Mr. Romnick Sarmenta and the final interview was interpolated by ABS-CBN field reported Mr. Jervis Manahan, both are faculty members of the Media and Communication Department of the College of Arts, Sciences and Education. The Peace Message was delivered by Hon. Bai Rihan Sakaluran of Sultan Kudarat while the Peace Education Commitment for the students was rendered by Ms. Shaira Venice Declaro, the University Student Council Governor. Also present in the event were Dr. Wilfred Tiu, the University President and other Deans and Heads of different units of the University.

In a jam-packed crowd of 1,500, nine pairs of peace education ambassadors participated in the pageant: (1) College of Engineering and Information Sciences, (2) St. Luke鈥檚 College of Nursing, (3) College of Hospitality and Tourism Management, (4) College of Allied Health Sciences, (5) Junior High School, (6) College of Medical Technology, (7) College of Arts, Sciences and Education, (8) College of Business, Management & Accountancy, and (9) Senior High School.

Ms. Abigail Tan of Senior High School and Mr. George Allen Peters of College of Engineering and Information Sciences were crowned as this year鈥檚 peace ambassadors.

This year鈥檚 pageant was facilitated by the Media and Communication Department of the College of Arts, Sciences and Education. Dr. Marlon Gomez is the 57th Foundation Anniversary Chair and Dr. Fernando Trinidad is the Co-Chair. On the other hand, Atty. Puramaryver Saquing is the Peace Advocacy Chair while Dr. Walter Yudelmo is the Personality Development Chair for the pageant. Wish Bus of Wish FM 107.5 will stage WISHclusives in the 57th Founding Anniversary Celebration of Trinity University of Asia. I will be happening on the 3rd of February 2020, Monday at the Open Court of the University starting 1:00 in the afternoon until 8:00 in the evening. Live performances of music artists inside the Wish Bus will culminate the engagement. In the past years, WISHclusives places interests of listeners through the performances of local as well as global music stars, icons and fast-rising artists on board the Wish Bus.

The event will be facilitated by Breakthrough and Milestones Production International, Inc. (BMPI) together with Mineshine, a food and beverage company as the major sponsor. The Trinitian community will enjoy onsite activities by Wish 107.5 external partiers in addition to the University Bazaar that will place at Patio Trinidad from the 3rd to the 7th of February 2020.

On 20 November 2019, Trinity University of Asia awarded Wish 107.5 as the Best Innovative FM Radio during the 2019 Platinum Stallion Media Awards. In an interview with UNTV, Dr. Walter H. Yudelmo, Academic Head of Media and Communication Department stated that Wish 107.5 won the award because it has a different concept which listeners experience compared to that of a traditional media. Also, it has elevated the language of music industry in the Philippines.

The invitation of Wish Bus was made possible through Media and Communication Department of the College of Arts, Sciences and Education.

Students taking BA Broadcasting and BA Communication together with Asst. Prof. Adonis Rugeria from the Media and Communication Department of the College of Arts, Sciences and Education of Trinity University of Asia attended the Philippine College Radio Congress on November 26-28, 2019 at the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman. The Congress on its fourth year with the theme 鈥淏ack to Basics,鈥 aims to re-inculcate the fundamental principles and skills that a responsible, knowledgeable, and equipped media practitioner should possess in a rapidly evolving and innovating world. Learning sessions highlighted broadcast ethics, history, management, as well as creative and hands-on sessions on voice acting, college radio newsroom, and acoustics and recording. The Congress was convened by UP Department of Broadcast Communication, the CHED Center of Excellence in Broadcasting as well as DZUP 1602, the official AM radio station of UP Diliman. It was co-presented by the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas, and Manila Broadcasting Company, and is endorsed by the Commission on Higher Education.

ABS-CBN and GMA Network dominate Trinity University of Asia鈥檚 Platinum Stallion Media Awards 2019

Trinity University of Asia will be staging the 2019 PLATINUM STALLION MEDIA AWARDS on the 20th of November 2019, Wednesday, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the University Theater. On its 5th year, the awarding will be part of the College of Arts, Sciences and Education鈥檚 56th Founding Anniversary Celebration.

The national media awards merits the continuing efforts of individuals and groups in educating the public through the media and allied arts. The registration and reception begins at 6:00 p.m. and the awarding ceremony will proceed at 7:00 p.m. Celebrities and Media Practitioners from television, film, public relations, print, journalism, as well as the other fields of media and communication are expected to attend in recognition of their exemplary contributions to the media industry.

The awardees were selected through a university-wide survey represented by every member of the Trinitian community: from students, faculty, non-teaching personnel, alumni, as well as the other constituents of the university such as parents, maintenance staff, and security guards.

The 2019 Platinum Stallion Media Awards, facilitated by the Media and Communication Department and the Events Management class under Dr. Walter H. Yudelmo, has become an important media award-giving body recognized by the different media industries in the country for the past four years since its launch in 2015. The emerging tradition built upon the successes of the previous Platinum Stallion Media Awards can be reviewed and relived through Facebook and Twitter under the social media handle 鈥淍tuapsma鈥.
